Belles Of The Boulevard

I had this strange feeling that this blog would wind up just like it has -  me writing a few posts, consider myself a hotshot blogger and then end up too lazy to update consistently, and now over a week has passed and Mel has finally forced me to start updating again. It will probably happen more often from now on as well; considering that we have lived through close to two weeks of adventures and me trying to fit all of them in to one single post might come across looking like I am trying to write a novel…
So what should I start with? Paris is still Paris, but life is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Our friend search is still very unsuccessful although our acquaintance with good old Jamel is going strong. We noticed today that he has a photo of him and me posing together as the background picture on his phone. It can be debated if it’s charming or a little bit bizarre... It might be our own fault that we lack friends though, taking into account that when we are bought shots by a stranger at our bar we pour them out in to a plant next to our table while we at the same time question if the guy actually can afford buying us all these unappreciated rounds drinks… On top of this, our greatest goal right now is to work on my bitchface to keep guys from approaching us too. I think Mel maneuvered this action the second she was born; she is too much of a natural at it. Je blague!
This weekend has been somewhat pathetic for me… It started out with us running around here in Turk town for about five hours Friday night after the bars had closed doing basically nothing except for ringing a billion doorbells before running away laughing loud enough to wake the rest of the whole neighborhood, and sitting around on a sidewalk in hoodies looking like hobos while watching the road workers tidy up the streets – all while we were drunkenly eating the rest of the chips we had stolen from our friends party the night before… On est vraiment désolé Isabel! ,
I spent the rest of the weekend catching up on sleep and watching too many episodes of Gossip Girl in French. At least we have replaced our bad habit of watching bad American chick flicks by dubbed-in-to-French series… This weekend might have been slightly better than last the last one though, when we spent our first time at the laverie being yelled at for about half an hour by a crazy French man because we accidentally took his clothes out of the machine… It didn’t help to pretend that we didn’t understand him either - there ain’t no foolin’ black Rambo!
And voila, a novel was written anyway! I really should go to sleep now, the sounds of Mel snoozing makes me feel a little guilty. I have to get up for school in the morning (yes, I started taking French lessons again, both mornings and afternoons).
Just a little tip about how to make your roommate fall asleep… Play this for her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn-NyrVdXaY
A bientot!
Bisous, bisous
